My LHS gave me a sweet deal near Christmas two years ago because he wanted to move them. I can see no reason why it couldn't happen in an online purchase as well, but their margins are sometimes a bit less, and they may be more resistant to haggling.
I have had good service (not going to touch prices...they're all over the place) from internethobbies, discount rails, toy train heaven, Tony's Train Exchange, traintrack.net, and model trains.ca (they won't be cheap).
