Beware of over priced train videos...
Posted by Tracklayer on Thursday, April 17, 2008 2:35 AM

Hey gang.

I know a lot of you hate hearing about eBay, but for those of you that do the amount of business there that I do buying train related items, you might like to know that there are quite a few over priced train videos out there. I recently bought one that was brand new for $4.00 shipping included which turned out to be pretty cool for the money (and no it's not pirated or stollen). Then I came across the exact same video by another seller that was asking $16.00 plus $5.00 shipping. As I scrolled down to the bottom of the page, there was yet another one for over $30.00... You really have to be careful and read the listing or there's a good chance you'll get burned.

That would be true for anything on eBay.  You have to be a person in the "know" and heed the following warnings:

  1. Know your product - What's it's quality and reliability?
  2. Know how much the item costs - Shop around and find out what the MSRP and current rate of the item is going for - both on eBay AND on other vendor sites.
  3. Know how much you're willing to spend to get it and DON'T exceed that amount.

It's that easy.

And I will agree.  It is amazing the difference in prices that you see on items being sold on eBay.  You just have to be smart and informed shopper before you press the "Place your bid" button.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.

Hello Tom.

If it hadn't been for the one I bought for $4.00 I wouldn't have known any better, and would have probably bought the one for $16.00... Glad there are still a few honest people out there in the world.
