Train stuck in snow near Québec City !
Posted by chateauricher on Friday, March 14, 2008 11:06 PM

I tried posting this Wednesday morning; but problems with the site prevented my post from appearing.  So I'll try again...

In Wednesday's (12 March) editions of Le Soleil and Le Journal de Québec (local French-language dailies) there were articles about a train stuck in snow since the huge snow storm Saturday night (8 March).  A freight train with about 10 cars of aluminium en route to Québec City became stuck in a huge snow drift in Neuvile (just west of Québec City) late Saturday night.  CN dispatched crews to dig it out; but attempts to free the train were unsuccessful, and workers were forced to wait until Tuesday.  Only then, with the aid of 6 large snow blowers, were they able to clear the 10 feet of snow and free the train.  The line re-opened to traffic at about 6:30 Tuesday evening (11 March).

Interesting!

At least it was ten cars of freight, not ten carloads of irate passengers.
