Hmm.... The old reverse psycology trick? that might work. I think I'll find some old vehicles I don't care about and put them somewhere obvious for him to use. I used to do that, but they would be EVERYWHERE when he was done with them. This time I'll only put 2 or something so I won't have to find as many.

EDIT: Packers#1: Check your PMs.

Try building your own divders, too. Build a frame, cover the outside w/ drywall, and paint it. Might work. There's one of my extra cents. BTW, what's PMs?

I think that'll work.

Here's an Idea for you.  Raise the layout up out of his reach.  It might be hard with a large layout but for a shelf or 4x8 it shouldn't be too hard.  All it would involve is replacing the legs of the layout or raising the shelf brackets.  If your layout is too large to do this it would be harder too stop.  Plexiglass fences would be pretty expensive and could get annoying to have to reach over to work on the layout.  If it's only the cars he plays with you could keep them away from the edge of the layout out of reach.

Good Luck,

Chad

The layout is 12' by 22' in a large walk-in kidney shape. Raising it would be hard, I have adjustible feet on the legs, but those would only be able to raise it about an inch.

Saw his layout on Youtube. Its a shelf layout with the scenery probably half-done.

It's declined since we got an Xbox 360.

Raising the layout won't work very well, I'm 6'1", he's 5'6", and locking the doors won't work since it's in the garage and the dogs always go in and out.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

My little brother unplugs the cord, then knocks over my challenger.

Dad talks to him.

No more "Brotherzilla".

'Nuff said.

My suggestion was directed at tylers case.  A three year old wouldn't be able to reach a higher layout.  Raising a layout wouldn't be a good solution to deal with someone older.  By then you'd think they would have learned more respect for others work.

Hope you find a good solution and the problem stops.

Yeah. I think it's just the phase he's in, also known as the "Terrible Threes" IMO. I know this won't last, so I'll just live with it until it's over.

Two Ideas come to mind:

1. Can you trade him for a New BLI loco with Sound?

2. Compare the brother and the cat which is safer in the room? Then work with that one and sell the other into slavery to your mom to do your work for you.

If neither works then just say He will get older and become my best friend. Till then get some TOY insurance from your mom so if he breaks something she replaces it.

I had (3) boys now only have 2 since one died and when they where growing up they all had the same problems. It does pass on.

This isn't to much on topic (none), but claycts, is your layout in Aiken? If it is, there's at least one other besides me.

Hmm...  know he'll be a good friend when he's older. My mom tells me I was as bad/worse when I was that age!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I'm not worried about destruction, just it's kinda annoying. I don't think he'll do anything like that for a while.

One other thought, and something we do at the club, is to physically attach cars to the scenery in a few places. Not all, as even some of us like moving them about now and then. But if you bolt down a few cars and luck is on your side, He'll get frustrated in trying to get the cars to move, and hopefully won't have the leverage the cars off.

I would get Toy Insurance from your Mom. He could accidently break something. BTW, I replied about the towns.

I'm not worried about it, as I don't think there'll be a repeat. The insurance thing is pretty much automatic, I'm not worried about it. I origanall thought this would be happaning all the time (which isn't the case) and I needed an outside view.

Hmm.. I think it would work, but I'd have to scrounge up the matirials and get permission from my parents. It's not an issue right now, so I don't think it would be worth it. (Unless it could keep the cats outCool [8D]) but then it'd have to be around 4' tall!Shock [:O]

Cool...Good Luck and kick A...

In days gone by, this time of year, I'd just pulled 3 chassis from the jig, and was building Clint Smith's new chassis on the jig, to replace the one he just beat to death in FLA, and one for his Daddy, Roscoe. Big Smile [:D] Clint's car would come back beat to death.

Amazing you could kill a chassis in 2 weeks. Big Smile [:D]

Sorry for the off topic post.
