-hello again, since i've seen the post on rtr cars i thought about the bowser 100 ton coal cars and i got 2 just for kicks since i mainly only have athearn bb kits (open twin bay hoppers, 40' gondolas) are these units comparable to them? or are they better, i always modify the bb kits with metallic wheels @ the very least.

I have a sizable fleet on them, and love them.  I replaced all my Athearn and MDC hoppers with Bowser kits.

I think they have much better detail then Athearn.  They're a step or two up from a BB shake the box kit.  Interior bracing, slope sheet braces, basic air brake stuff, and the hopper doors all need to be installed. I replace the stock wheel sets with Intermountain metal ones.  One thing, the Bowser 100 ton hoppers use 36" wheels.

I have several Bowser hoppers.  They are a step above the Blue Box freight cars.  Once weathered, they look really nice and realistic!
