Changing loco address
Posted by Lattayards on Monday, January 7, 2008 11:27 PM

I can't get a new DCC BLI SD-40-2 to accept a new address. Programming on the main with a Prodigy system and inputting in the new address, it reads back the 205 (engine number) in CV 18, but when I try to access it using 205, it doesn't respond. I haven't had this problem with the other half-dozen or so other models I've changed prior. Still responds to the original #3. Any ideas?

That high a number is what is called an "extended address".  So, you have actually gotten the decoder to take the new address, but not to respond to it...weird, huh.  What you must now do is go into ops mode and get CV 29 dialed up.  Then, set it with a value of "38" and enter that value.  Exit programming, dial in the 205 address as if you wanted to run that loco, and you should get it to come to life.

I hope.
