Trains for Christmas
Posted by MaspethMatt on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 10:19 AM
hi train people.  liked trains for a long time but not enough time.  made time and bought for "the family" the lionel polar express.  boy is this a heavy train!  i'm going to be doing alot of research on this forum and hopefully stay with the trains after christmas.  my inital plan is to put a shelf out of the kids reach on the play room wall, play room being 40x12, and go from there.  any way to make a safe layout to protect the trains from my little angels would be appreciated.  have fun, i know i will.

Welcome to the forum and Happy Trains Christmas. For a layout with kids, Three rules:

1. Make it as secure as possible

2. Teach the kids how to treat the train

3. Plan for some "Events"

 Oh yes 4. Have fun.

If you think you have it right, your standards are too low. my photos http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a235/ARTHILL/ Art

I don't know your reasons for excluding the kids, but if you can help it...don't. Get them their own "junkers" to play with and slowly work with them on how to handle the "good stuff".

Our five year old handles most of our N-Gauge like a pro now....:)
