[xx(]
[/quote]

Computer games will not break the hobby. In fact, I think that computers are a natural extension of the hobby. But not a "Mindless Collective" If my grandfather was alive today to witness a realistic run of the 4-6-4 NYC Hudson hauling the Empire during a winter storm on the North east corridor he would just love it. Never mind all the technology that makes it possible.

I personally have a worktable and I set aside some free time that other wise would have been used up on the computer or other activites and go build a kit or something. One of reasons I can do this is because I will be working around computers for a living once my studies are completed and there are plenty of time to deal with those nasty balky onery collections of silicon and electrons.

And finally [soapbox] again... I think in the next 5 years computers will assist us in running our 4th Generation DCC super duper deluxe automatic layout that is controlled automatically using real dispatch data steaming in from the internet and virtual interchanges with only human work required for derailments etc. Who knows? you could even IMAGE your layout into your computer and drive it using a RRT3 like interface. Perhaps you are bored at work and you decide to run your layout from a remote location? Many possiblities.
