Need a little computer help for buring CD's
Posted by cudaken on Sunday, November 18, 2007 9:27 PM

I know it is off topic but I need a some help with my nero program. When I went XP Pro it did state my Nero program and XP did not like each other but Nero did work. Then I let Windows up date my computer (not the Explorer) and then one day I could not burn CD's to back up files! Angry [:(!]

Anyone have a link for free soft ware for Nero? All I could find was links where they wanted cash for the software.

Thanks for the help that is coming

                    Cuda Ken

PS, please make it simple, you folks my spelling is bad.

As you requested:

http://www.nero-download.info/

In case you didn't know, Nero will only work for a limited time as the free version. That's probably why yours stopped working.

mehtinks he was looking for Nero by Ahead Software (http://nero.com).

Another good freebie burning program is DeepBurner from http://www.deepburner.com/

The windows burning utility, while poor will work if you're just trying to burn things to CD to archive them (such as pictures or word documents or the like).  If THAT can't burn the CD's for you, I would then conclde that your CD burner is dead.

I tried Nero on XP-Pro.  Didn't like it.  Threw it away.

I use Sonic Record.  It came with the computer & XP. It is VERY user friendly.  You can probably download it on line.  Couldn't cost that much if it came with XP.  Jerry

Ken,

Help us to help you....what is it that you want to back up? Documents that are on your PC? Music? Photos? If it's your documents you want to back up, all you need to do is open the folder that contains the documents, highlight the document names and right click, select 'Send to' and then click on your CD drive to begin the backup process.

CD burner XP is open source. That means it's completely free.
Deep Burner has a pay version AND a free version. Look under their download menu.

If your trying to use CD/RW disks, I think you need something like InCD. That allows your burner to work like a hard drive.

I've been using the free version of Deep Burner for a couple a years now.  Works good, does CD's and DVD's.

Nothing from Windows/Microsoft is "Open Source" . A lot of their stuff is Freeware. Open source refers to the coding and Microsoft would never give that away for free.

Well....Maybe you need to read the link to the program I posted because it has NOTHING to do with Microsoft. It IS open source. It IS completely free. Or maybe you should just keep posting without knowing what the heck your talking about!!Dunce [D)]Banged Head [banghead]

Windows XP should aready have a SIMPLE cd burning utility built in. All you have to do is drag whatever to burn to a open CD Burner drive. Boom done.

I use full retail Roxio myself.
