Now that Halloween is past, I have been getting in the holiday spirit.
I just recieved a sampler of Christmas cards and on several of them it shows Santa Claus working on model trains in his work shop. These pictures are very well done and have a nostalgic sense of whimsy to them that pulls off the general feeling of fun we all enjoy. Yet at the same time this is just his workshop. Just picture what his layout has to look like.
As an aside, given all the stuff he needs to make toys for all those children every christmas, you know he has to be served by rail. We can assume from the movie the Polar Express that he has a signifiant segment of his own private right of way. But what Prototype Railraod would that interchange with? The Alaska perhaps?

Also some railroads in Norway or Sweden. Easier to do with more European equipment available

Well duh. Of course he does. I imagine his layout covers acres. Like maybe from here to forever and beyond. Santa is big into the steam era. No Big Boys for Santa, just nice Moguls and Atlantics. He prefers passenger trains as these transport the good boys and girls in the real world. Puffing along in idealic settings with a snow machine that lays down a fresh carpet of snow daily. Oh did I mention his trains are S gauge. His eyes are getting a little weak and needs a little larger train. But I think this time of year the layout is a little neglected. Hes making toys, checking Christmas lists, and living on Mrs. Clauses milk and cookies. Reminds, me I better get my list in the mail. Whats the zip code for the North Pole again?

What are you talking about!? We all know he runs 3-rail O gauge (as forever immortalized in this coke ad).
Then again, he has the HO, S, G, N, Z, and narrow gauge layouts for testing and breaking in all locos before boxing them up and leaving them under the tree.

Well of course he does!..Look at all the help he has too! All those little elves that can get into all the corners, nooks, and crannies of the layout for great detailling work! He also has dibs on all the toy manufacturers. I bet Santa gets stuff from Walthers a whole lot faster than we do!
If the jolley old elf truely lives at the GEOGRAPHIC North Pole, I hope he can swim, because the ice is melting fast.
Of course if he lives at the MAGNETIC North Pole, which is in Canada, then he should be fine.

First of all, someone said he didn't have Big boys, ofcourse he do. He is a Big boy himself.

It is okay to misspell Santa's name. Seems like every letter meant for him gets there, no matter what the address is.
