Track Weathering Experiment; Good or Bad?

Here is a little project I whipped up using a section of Kato track. I got tired of shiney rails and did something about it.

Here is a shot of it.

Good or bad? The structure is one I purchased second hand from another layout via the LHS and the platforms are wood kit with laser precision. The boxcar is a bluebox Timken Roller I won on ebay some time ago. That is the Falls Valley Company House.

Anyways, the weathering was started with the "Rusty Rails" from Joe's model trains and after a few passes... eh.. I got out the Bradgon and went to work starting with the dark in the middle and working out to either side.

Not too bad. Kind of hard to tell from that angle. Maybe a little too dark in the middle compared to outside the rails. My 2 cents [2c]

If you are bound to Kato tracks and can/will not balast the track by yourself it is great looking. You should apply that treatment to all your Kato track.
