On the general forum page in the lower right corner there is a section that is entitled, "Most Active Members" with a number by them. What is the number in reference to? Is it the number of posts started, responded to, or something else? What is the time frame? Is it the current day (beginning at midnight or other) is it the past 24 hours or what?

"Most active members" by number of posts in the 24 hour period ending when you logged onto the forums.
The post count includes ALL the forums, not just the model railroad ones. There have been times when I made that list purely on the basis of posts to forums other than the four Model Railroader forums.
