I hadn't looked at mine and when I read this I noticed I was at 999 . So this makes 1,000 for me.

That's one way to do it.
You have a long way to go. Jeffery and Selector seem to "Live" on this forum board with thousands and thousands of replies between them LOL.
My guess is both are retired.

Back before the Forum format was revised about 15 months ago there were stars under each username to indicate (approximately) how many posts the individual had made. Some people squawked when that feature was removed. Others (myself included) didn't.

I've been here since 04 too, and you can see by my count I talk a lot more than you.
I'll be the first to admit that other then this forum and trains, I have no life!
Well, since you mentioned it this is my 4000th. I had a special post that I had been saving (Since about June - but I see no one has missed me), but this seemed a more appropriate place for such a trivial accomplishment. I can only say I hope most of my count have been real posts that have added something real to a train related discussion or helped someone out. Unfortunately, I know at least one of them was feeding a troll, and at least four added fire to a silly flame war. Shame on me. I've made a few wrong statements and fortunately there have been more knowledgeable people come along and correct my errors. In all I don't regret the mistakes. I would rather be corrected than give someone false information. I've enjoyed my time here and plan to do so in the future only at greatly reduced rate (In June I was dead even with Lothar -- BTW thanks for the lead in post). I'll let everyone do the math but 4000 posts at the 10 minutes-60 minutes composition, proof-reading, and editing time per post is much more time than I really should be spending on this. Then add all the time spent researching things for others and the time spent helping others design their layouts over on the layouts. Pcarrel & I have had some good times over in the layout forum working through plans with others.... Unlike Lothar I do have several other "life"s each demanding much time and energy.

Yeah, my post count is nothing short of ridiculous. But, really, who cares, and who notices. I don't. I just try to have fun here and to add some little value when I can.
Tex, this place is really busy, and if someone just stops one day, I think maybe five or six regulars may notice something after a week or so. For example, Randy Rinker was gone for a looooong time. I noticed after a week or three, but he was gone for many weeks before someone else piped up and asked. Same for lawyer Dave who had been close to you until he moved up to the N.E.. UK Guy (Karl) may lurk here from time to time, but I know for a fact that he is on one or two other forums where the modelling is in the stratosphere....way too high falooting for me. Good for him, though.
Good to see you both are still drawing breath.
