I have been feverishly getting the layout and stock ready to exhibit in a couple of weeks and managed to get a couple of new steam locos modified, lettered and soundchipped. I have only just started the weathering with a coat of black/grey over everything.
Here are the first photos.
The ESU soundchip that was in the Trix mikado is now in the Spectrum 2-10-2 and the 2-8-2 has a Tsunami (medium steam) decoder

Another impressive addition to the fleet, Jon. It's always amazing what a bit of grey can do for a steam locomotive - a few passes with an airbrush can make such a lot of difference to realism. What a pity you are not exhibiting at Warley this year, as I am attending for once!
Also - I was very impressed with your article in "Continental Modeller", and look forward to the second part next month.

Thanks Brian. Steve Flint took some mean photos for the CM article.
Never been invited to Warley with either Sweethome, Hudson Lane or Hudson Rd.
Still, I have Colchester and Newcastle shows to keep me occupied for the next few weeks. I'll be at Ally Pally in March if you're in the area.
The locos after I clagged some more weathering on.

The Spectrum 2-10-2 after I added sunshades, modified the front pilot and clagged the weathering on.
Now to take some video
Jon,
I've always been curious about the name of your layout. Where does the name "Sweet Home" come from? Thats a funny sounding name! =D

'Sweet Home, Chicago' is a song from the 80's movie 'The Blues Brothers', originally recorded by Robert Johnson, I think.
The next layout is already past the planning stage and is called Sweethome, Alabama (Sweet Home, Alabama - song by Lynrd Skynrd)
Can you see a pattern emerging?
Although my British OO-gauge layout had a less musical name - Hudson Road - the article I wrote about it for the British magazine 'Railway Modeller' contained the titles of 20 'Jethro Tull' albums hidden in the text - only one person ever spotted it, who wasn't pointed to it.
hello Jon from Boston

keep up the good work

The steamers are "sweet". Thanks for sharing.
