QUOTE: An Allegheny, **cringe** is a 2-6-6-6 mallet type loco.
Dear 4884bigboy,
Just one little thing: the Allegheny type locomotives were all simple. You may be thinking of some of the N&W's superior mallets[:)][:D][8D][^].

Dear Big_Boy_4005,
Yes, I am talking to you[;)]. Allegheny is a type of wheel arangement, 2-6-6-6, that was owned by the C&O and the Virginian. Furthermore, the two railroads' Allegheny type locomotives were practically identical. The Allegheny locomotives had some dimensions by which the supporters of Allegheny superiority say they were larger. However, our beloved Big Boys have many more attributes which make them the largest locomotives of all time. I just wrote a large posting at the "Big Boy vs. Allegheny"; those are fighting words thread.

Dear NTDM,
What the heck are you talking about?[?]

Defend the Big Boy,
Daniel
