Many of my wishes have been answered by Walthers these past few months. First, the 1955 TC Hiawatha. Then, durring the NMRA show, the new MILW rib-sided cabooses were announced.
Now, one we all have been waiting for... Proto 2000 H10-44's With and Without sound and DCC!

I would have expected the non sound units to be way higher in price than only $104. I might even splurge and get a sound unit!
The drawing shows the old passenger scheme for MILW, but the listing does say it will be in the forever remembered orange/black scheme.
What would make me even more happy would to have the engines in some shortline and industrial schemes too...

Finally, a Santa Fe switcher with factory DCC and sound in Zebra stripes
I have been waiting for any switcher in Zebra stripes with factory sound, now I've got my loco.
BLI sure dropped the ball with this one. I was waiting for their NW2 to come out in Zebra stripes. But after all this time and after several inquires, still no Santa Fe NW2. Walthers will get my business for sure with this one. Sorry BLI, you just took too long.

$204 = equipped with DCC and sound
$104 = equipped with standard DC, no sound

I do not think that 204$ is to much for something that I like, that comes with sound and DCC. I think it is a fair price, not great but OK. Also, as we know, it will be cheaper on most web stores. And since I do all of my buying that way I guess the actual price paid will be closer to 150-165 then 200.
The Milwaukee engines will be delivered in the 'delivery' paint scheme, like in the artwork. That is not the 'passenger' paint scheme. All road switchers were delivered in that scheme after WWII. About 1952, the Milwaukee changed to the simplified orange/black scheme(the SD7's may have been the first 'new' units in that scheme). The orange/black in the artwork notes may refer to the black underbody and orange carbody. An 'informant' mentioned this engine to me about a month ago. Send a note to Walthers to verify what paint scheme this first run will be delivered in. The original Roco engines imported by Walthers were offered in the delivery/simplified/cities paint schemes though the years, and I suspect there will be future runs with variations on these as well!

I have to admit that you're right. I always call it the 'passenger scheme" because all of the earlier passenger cars were painted in that scheme. Sorry for any confusion on your end.
The real passenger scheme was the (2???) H10-44's that were at one time or another, painted into the UP armour yellow scheme, and assigned to switching duties at the Milwaukee, WI depot. These engines were released, along with the first scheme, by Walthers way back when. I was lucky enough to buy one of the passenger scheme units. I never bothered buying the other two schemes because...
1. I am not 'old school', so I don't really like the old scheme2. It is so easy to paint black and orange with an airbrush, that I'm not gonig to waste my time buying any of the orange/black scheme units.
I really don't think Walthers will release any units in the armour yellow scheme, but who knows. I have seen photos of these engines in the Everett Street Station, so they would work with the Hiawatha set. Maybe when Walthers releases some other newer paint schemes...

I'm guessing the FM's are tied in to the Walthers 75th anniversary deal - Milwaukee freight and passenger depots, Milwaukee Hiawatha train, now a Wisconsin built switcher reissue!!
The price is pretty good, the original c.1990 one listed for I think $74.95?? I've bought three over the years, the cheapest was $35 at a flea market. Don't know about getting a sound one though, unless they offer a version with a Hancock air whistle for the Minneapolis Northfield and Southern's units!!
