gotta be the 2-10-4 jay !! only 200 hp. off the Q-2 peak on the altoona test plant, <br /> and all kinds of cheaper to operate in the field. there were some technical <br /> problems with these locos when built, because of c&o blueprint errors, but once <br /> ironed out, the texans ruled the road...wherever they could fit. <br /> the tees have also come in for some serious reevaluation recently. turns out <br /> that their early demise was due largely to events beyond prr.s control, as many of <br /> their specialty parts went out of production in the early 50s.....parts that were not <br /> made at altoona, and were covered by patent rights. tee performance wasn't an <br /> issue with experienced enginemen in charge.
