Atlas turnouts

Atlas makes an under-the-table switch machine that works well with HO and N atlas turnouts. The machine is made for HO, but you can shorten the linkage and widen the "nail hole" in the ties to make it fit for N. I've done this in N on both the old-type machines, which have the bulky slide mechanism in a case, as well as the newer versions. On the old switches, I simply cutoff the slide mechanism, then drill a hole through the table top so the linkage can be attached to the center bar that holds the rails on the turnout. It's a pretty simple process; the hardest part is mounting the under-table piece so that the linkage properly throws the switch. Hope this helps.
