Bent Zamack F Ladders
Posted by Tom O-Scale on Sunday, July 15, 2007 12:45 AM

Hi...

I just purchased an All-Nation F-7 B unit to match the A unit I built years ago.

Some of the ladder steps are slightly bent inward and two of them need to be bent out almost 1/4".

The All-Nations castings were quality quite durable and I've never seen one that was degrade.

I know there is a chance one could break or be weakened.  Has anyone had any experience with doing this?

Thanks...

I don't have any familiarity with those kits, but as you know Zamac is rigid and doesn't tolerate much flexing without breakage, so if you attempt it go slow, doing it by degrees and then checking for any stress marks or cracks with a magnifier. You're better acquainted with the quality of those castings than I am, but a quarter inch is a long way to bend them.
