You can also search for "sugar cube speakers".

On the Ebay search, look for Iphone 4S loudspeakers. The long one with the round end. They work great.

Thank you James. Great advice. Purchased and installed in an Atlas RS3(not much room so I placed it in the cab where it is hard to see). Very happy with the results and could not beat the price.

Do you mean these?  Do you use the whole thing? or is the speaker at one end?

Thanks,

Mike.

The whole thing, because that's the enclosure as well. Find an interior shot of some recent Rapido locos, the RS-11 definitely uses them.

OK, Thanks Randy, I looked at the parts diagram for the RS11, and I seen it.  It just looks so big in the Ebay ads, I wasn't sure.

Think about how small a phone is - the 4 was still one of the small ones, before they had to make them all giant because all the competitors were. And especially how thin - whish is the real reasont hey work so well in locos.

How are the 4s speakers oriented in a locomotive?  I don't know where the sound comes out...

Check You Tube for speaker sound samples and comparisons. I have seen some and those might be there.

I don't know that I understand where to wire it.  There are 2 metal strips, a wire and a grommet which may be for mounting or for electrical contact as well.

I went back and looked at the video you posted, and it's hard to tell.  It almost looks like the end with the grommet is where it's wired.

The "round" end didn't seem to have anything attached.

I dunno' maybe some one will tell us. Confused

That 'grommet' on the end of the short piece of wire is a coax connector, one of the antennas is part of the speaker housing when used in the phone. Those two little strips near the round end are the speaker terminals.

If you look in the video. when he lifts the speaker out and tilts it around, you see black wires running across the top going to those little tabs.

Yes. I cut off the speaker end lose to the 2 tabs that you solder to.
