Yard Ladder Controls
Posted by bandofan on Saturday, November 25, 2023 9:59 AM

Hi,

I'm getting ready to begin laying track and installing the turnouts in my main railyard.  All of the turnouts will all be controlled by Tortoises and/or Smails.  I'm using an NCE DCC system.  I'm looking for some advice.  I don't want the operator to have to go through switching a series of toggle switches to align all of the turnouts.  Instead, I'd like the yard ladder to be controlled by either push buttons or a dial type of system that will align all the turnouts at once when the operator selects the track that they want to use in the yard.  What is a good hardware setup to allow for this easier operation?  I know there were some recent videos on how the MR staff accomplished this in the MR&T staging yard, but wanted to see if people had other recommendations that they are happy with.

Thanks in advance!

I have the NCE 5 amp wireless PH-Pro system. I have used an NCE Mini Panel and Switch-8 to automate routes into and out of my downtown passenger station. A series of pushbuttons and LEDs on a control panel control the routing.
