I have a DC HO scale two truck Hielser that i wan't to convert to DCC.I went online and only came up with a few conversations to DC and DCC ready locos, but no one seem to come to a conclusion or reply back to the post,they sometimes end the conversation and never let anyone know if it was complete or successful.I have done a lot of conversions myself and know how to isolate the motor and track, but this one did not go well,so if anyone has done this conversion befor and can give me a few tips on how i can complete this conversion, i would be very greatfull for any help.Also i'm going to keep trying with my meter to find out if theres a short somewere.

Youtube vids are just demos of the sound and the TCS installations are on DCC ready. I did find posts on other forums that said the "motor case was live" and another that said he added an "extra wiper" No further details.

RR_Mel It would help us if you give us something to go on. Saying it didn’t go well isn’t much information. I have converted a bunch of Rivarossi articulated locomotives and everyone was very simple and straight forward. I don’t have any experience with the Heisler but pretty much every Rivarossi I’ve come across have been easy to work on and rewire to DCC. You said that you have isolated the motor and as far as I know that should take care of any electrical problems. Did it run OK on DC before the conversion attempt? The Rivarossi motor can and often draws a lot of current so without changing it out to a can motor you will need a high current decoder, minimum of 1 amp or 1½ amp to be on the safe side. Since you are going to convert to a can motor and know about good pickups and doing current test, I would suggest a Digitrax DZ126 decoder, good for one amp and HO locos. I have used it. Quite small.
TCS has a small one amp decoder also. You missed this one.

You did not mention sound but SounTraxx does have some decoder, speaker suggestions but no plans.

Hi there. I converted two Heislers. I kept the original motors (the round ones) as they are very good and don't draw too much current. The motor is already isolated from the frame, you just need to cut the wires that feed the motor. I used 1 amp decoders.

I want to thank everyone for there advise and responses. I'll let everyone know how the conversion turns out after testing the loco on the programing track.

That was interesting about the DCC conversion,...and the subties of getting inside that loco. I have one or 2 of these locos and eventually will need to get inside.Thanks

That is what I find interesting about the TCS site.The TCS site is growing as users submit the installs.
Some locos and tenders can be tricky to open.
The first place I look at when I see a question about installs.
Last I heard, Bachmann seems to be using TCS decoders in at least two locos now.
I find many You Tube videos about DCC and sound but very few about they did the install which is much more important.
