Ds64 and Psxar
Posted by bnsf0823 on Saturday, November 28, 2015 3:07 PM

ok, i have a ds64 digitrax stationary decoder and a psx-ar.  The psx-ar is used for a reversing loop and is wired to the tortios switch machine to activate when polarity is reversed.  I want to also hook my ds64 to this same tortios switch machine but am not sure if that will work.  I dont want to ruin my psx-ar.  Is this possible? if so how would i go about doing it?  im wondering if i can hook them both up to the outsides of the tortios.

No, you cannot hook them both up to the same Tortoise. If you read the PSX-AR instructions, you will see that it uses 3 addresses - the third one is the one that will control the attached Tortoise. Access it from your throttle the same way you access a DS64 turnout.

can you please explain to me what a digitrax configuration jumper is? Larry from dcc specialites said i need to install this to program the psxar to run switches. He said once you enter switch mode 999 will appear on my throttle and then i can change my switch number with open or closed command. I tried using the instructions for the psx-ar but i just couldnt get it to program. Thanks

It's not a "digitrax" jumper, it's the address configuration jumper. It's mentioned on the PSX instruction sheet. Assuming the PAX is connected to track power, turn on your system, the move the jumper to the program postion (have to look at what it says, either on or off). The press Switch, dial the address you want to use for this one, then press C or T. It's basically the same as setting the address in you DS64s, except instead of pressing a button to get to program mode, the PSX just used a jumper.
