One more question re the Digitraxx PM-42 and my layout
Posted by LooseClu on Thursday, February 12, 2009 2:41 AM

I was finally able to run some trains tonight after a week of soldering feeders to two of my four blocks.  I hooked both busses to my Zephyr and had both of my HO locos (a Shay and a Climax) crawling easily over the newly layed track.  So far its wired like a strait DC layout would have been wired.  When I add the PM-42 I plan to separate the two pairs of bus wires presently connected to the Zephyr, and run each pair as rail A and rail B in the first two sections of that 44 pin connector.  The remaining two sections will have rail A and rail B bus wires connected as Rev A & Rev B since one is a turntable and the other an isolated section in a reverse loop.  There are also a bunch of ops switches to reset and other 'adjustments' to compensate for the Zerhyr's 2.5 amp output.  If I do all that correctly (BIG if), will I need anything else?  I doubt I'll ever run more than those two locos (both w/sound) but everything I read talks about boosters.  My total platform is 8' x 9'  with a gap in one side so it is C-shaped.  No bus wires are over 12' long.  Everything works well so far when tested as one block (the two reversing blocks were not connected).  Does that indicate I won't need any boosters after the PM42 gadjet is connected?  Thanks again to all in the forum who have helped me get this far.  It sure was nice watching those two little geared steamers crawl slowly over the new track work without so much as pause over the switches or my soldering of feeders to the tracks.  That success is directly attributable to the advice I've received on MR's forum

Based on the above statement. No, you have all that is required to run your layout.

That being said, there's tons of stuff that can be added just because it's availableWink
