I want to buy two of these http://www.trainsetsonly.com/page/TSO/PROD/STX-820112 for my Athearn 2-8-2 & Bachmann 2-8-4. What speakers would go good with these locos. Also, do I need anything else?

If you already have the locos measure the available space and go with the largest speaker or speakers that will fit in the measured space.

I have 2 questions. 1. How do I keep the speaker in place

2. How do I connect the speaker to the decoder?

To keep the speakers in place you could run a very small bead of sylicone around the outer rim and stick it where you want to or buy the enclosure that matches the speaker and tape or glue it to the spot. Sountraxx has double sided tape gaskets for there speakers. On some of my diesels the 3/8 inch speakers are wired in series and just wedged to the shell and weight with a small piece of foam tape. They line up perfectly with the radiator fans.

There will be 2 wires from the decoder that you will solder to the speaker terminals.

At the bottom of the page of this link are application notes regarding installing decoders. It may help you.
