Check out the Alaska Railroad pages on the fallen Flags site. In addition to loco and rolling stock photos, there is a roster of ARR freight equipment as of 1976.

I'm pretty sure that coal (in 100T open hoppers) is the ARR's primary commodity.

I don't know what types of rolling stock they have but I have a train dispatching simulator with Alaska Railroad on it. They have the following freight trains: Coal, Intermodal (gasp!),Freight, Gravel, Logs, and Oil.
