CB&Q Pullman interior colors
Posted by brucec12 on Monday, December 4, 2006 9:37 PM

I have a Branchline CB&Q heavyweight coach passenger car. The seats are molded a shiny green as are the car sides (interior) but the lavatory partitions are a biege. I was thinking of painting the interior but not sure if those colors are accurate?

Thanks for any help,

Bruce...

If memory serves me. Just about all of the heavyweight coaches that I've been in have a beige, cream or ivory color on the walls. I've been in a few with pastel shades of green or blue as well.

I don't know about the Burlington specifically but just about every railroad was using a Dupont "Dulux" enamel and the colors were very institutional tans. Many of the "first class" cars had an imitation "wood graining" applied which was very convincing.

Stick to "earth tones" with tan walls, dark green or maroon seat fabric, white lavatories and you can't go wrong...
