Tie length on narrow gauge trestles?

I've read that on standard guage trestles, the ties are ten feet long. Would they be the same on a narrow gauge trestle/bridge? Or would they be shorter?

Tie length varied among narrow gauge lines. Bridges on those which were intended to be widened to 56 inch gauge were frequently built to standard gauge specifications. Some of the "better" 3-footers used 8' ties, while others used whatever came to hand. One common practice on US lines was to put in a couple of turnout-length ties every hundred feet or so on wood trestles. The ends would be planked over, then used as a platform for a water barrel.
