Tell Me About Early GeePs.
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, March 6, 2006 2:05 PM
I happily walked into the trainshow in Erie, Pa., on Sunday and found some neat stuff at great prices -- including a Bowser-made zinc shell for a GeeP ... at $10 no less.

But since I'm an ERIE RR steam guy, I have no idea what this thing should look like, what its fine points are and how to tell a GP-1 from a GP-40. I think I have an earlier shell because I've seen 50's and 60's photos with them in local freight hauling. The engine is straight-topped with the flu***opped cab about a quarter away from the front. Nose and tail look identical.

I want to practice on this model so I can hone my skills for better projects later on. So what do I have and what can I do with it?[C=:-)]

It sounds like you have a GP7 or GP9 shell. Here's a link to some Erie and EL engines: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/el/loco/gp.html . Enjoy!
