NYC F3´s
Posted by Christian H on Monday, July 18, 2011 12:31 PM

Hi,

I search for informations and a picture of the F3B. The unit was released with F3A 3501 and F3A 3502. They was only passenger unit of F3´s on the NYC.

What for a number has this F3B unit?

Thanks,

Christian!

Christian,

If I understand your question correctly, the passenger F3A units were #3500-#3503 and the F3B units were #3600 & #3601.  Hope that helps...

Christian:

There were 6  NYC F-3 units delivered as passenger units:3500-3600-3501 and 3502-3601-3503. The two 3600 series units are B units. All the units had steam generators and were converted to run on freight in the late 50s and early 60s. 3502 was sold to EMD in 1961. Perhaps it was wrecked?

Reportedly, though the A units were delivered in the two tone passenger gray, the B. units were delivered in dark gray but it didn't take long to repaint the B units into a matching two tone passenger gray.

I hope that helps. I understand that Athearn produced these F units in HO in their Genesis line.
