World's Fastest Train?

High Speed Train I wonder how far back it has to slow down for the station ?

This is a high speed train built by the Alstom rail group in Belfort, France;  They share the same manufacturing facilities with the GE Energy Products Europe (EPE) Gas Turbine group.
The video was provided by the GE EPE Chief Engineer in Belfort.

The train hit 574.8 Km/h which works out to 357.2 MPH or Mach 0.482....   In particular, watch the train going under a bridge with people watching.
This is FAST !! All aboard and HANG ON!!!

It only went that fast on a trial run so the French could reclaim the world's speed record.  No passengers were on board except railroad officials, and it doesn't go that fast in regular service.

I don't think we'll see anything like that in Canada soon. Can you imagine what would happen if a Moose or Grizzly Bear wondered onto the tracks.Shock

I wonder how are they able to achieve such high speeds with ties designed like that.
