1930s CNR freight car colours...
Posted by doctorwayne on Friday, June 27, 2008 12:50 AM

Anybody know what colour the CNR painted its gondolas and flatcars in the 1930s?  I know that hoppers were black during this time, then changed to boxcar red in the early '40s.  However, I can't find any info on other open cars.

I believe the CNR SIG maintains a fairly authoritative paint guide.  Sorry, I don't have their website on hand.

Thanks, Ted.  I had already checked out their site CN Lines SIG , but there's no info on rolling stock colours that far back.  I did, however, go back to that site and send off a couple of e-mails to people who might have the information that I'm looking for.  I'll post any info that I get, although with most of these organisations being staffed by volunteers, replies may take some time.
