I want to buil buildings and house from scratch with scrap lumber of 1/8 to 1/2" thicness any ideas.

Are you planning on larger scale models?  This seems like too heavy a material for typical HO scratch-building.

I cut scrape walnut to scale thickness on the table saw and to width on a band saw. It was a lot of work and it was not as accurate as LHS. It was a good color for my trestle and the larger sizes were OK.
