One way to figure out what's going on is to run a truck through the turnout(s) all by itself.  That way, you can more easily see what's happening. Or . . . take a piece of clear plastic about 6 inches long and make a test car, with two trucks.  MicroMark sells one for  $11.25 at: [url]http://www.ares-server.com/Ares/Ares.asp?MerchantID=RET01229&Action=Catalog&Type=Product&ID=80916[/url]. This won't catch every problem, but can help determine whether a problem is with the turnout or the car.
