Wiring
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, April 14, 2007 2:02 PM

I'm using Atlas code 83 track and have a few turn outs I need to wire because they are hard to reach.  I am using the NCE Power Cab and also have the LS 150.  With the #541 remote obviously the wire only goes so far.  My questions:

What gauge wire is used with this remote?

What gauge wire should I connect this with (from turn out wire to the LS150)?

How exactly should these wires be connected to each other?

As always thanks for the help.

The gauge that would run the vast majority of switch machines could be as fine as 22 gauge for lengths of several feet with no worries for loss of voltage or over-current.  For example, the Tortoise has a stall current measured in micro-amps, so even 22 gauge is lots.  Door bell wire, telephone wire...any of those.

I am unfamiliar with the system you mention, so I cannot help, but your instruction sheet should be clear...?
