In many ways not worth reading but I am a little happy with the new hills. Some of you may have read Good Day Bad Day when the glue ate the foam. Got it done around a month ago and now has around 100 tress.
All the sections are lift off hills so I can open the garage door and work on the rails
This is the second section.
I got some ground cover on it and have a nother 70 tress or so for it.
Next section still in foam.
With no plaster it fits well with the first section. Will add some rock out crops to the foam section to cover the joint. Many thing is to make sure each section can be picked up.
Reason there is no portal on the right side is the track will get a grade and want to make sure the trains will clear the rat hole.
Comparied to the great modelers here yes it is a joke. But then again it is a start. Next section will be foam based so I can carve details.

Good on you, Ken . I like the variety of tree shapes and colours, and your soil/rock colours are good too, and I especially like the not-too-pretty green in the 3rd pic.

Ken, you are making some real progress and have a right to feel happy about what you have achieved. The scenery you have done has already made a world of difference to the flat board look you started with.

Thanks for the complants, guess for being new and first few trys not doing bad. I like the off color gree as well, adds a little detail. As far as the rock colors, I first mix latex paint to the plaster called Burnt Clay, then use a gray and dark brown wash. The paint I use for the wash came from Walmart and 79 cents a bottel so prices is more than fair.
I will post a few more pic after the 3 rd hill is plastered and trees added to the second hill.

Yeah, Ken, you tackled all the hard stuff first...getting your trains to perform for you. Now you can enjoy the fun stuff. This is where you can go all out and try different things to suit your taste. Don't be afraid to muck things up and start over if the look is no good. Slather more plaster or paint, whichever, and re-ground foam to get the look you want. I dip "bush" clumps in a tin top filled with carpenter's glue and place them individually. You'd think, "Holy cow, this is gonna take until my 50th birthday!", but you can "bush" a big chunk of layout property in just an hour once you get busy.
Where's the smiley, by the way? Yuh gotta have a smiley after a post dealing with scenery...it's a rule.
Dave my old Wing Warrior fan, glad to see you here. I am guessing it will be a short stay unless you get on the cray train as well. Yes all the Daytonas and Superbirds, Cuda's and Charger's are sitting in the garage and show room of the dealership waiting to be unleashed on the Bow Ties and Blue Oval guys.
I still have all the 320' of slot car track, all the power traps, transfomers etc. Just to bad I never found a local slot car fan to races aginst. (By the way HO Train fans I have a few slot cars that would cover the 320' track in 10.3 seconds)
Hope you make up my way sometime, I think you have my E-mail at the slot car site.

This is one of my slow cars, 70 Plymouth Superbird / Tyco Magume 440 with a few mods.
Jep, the car in my pic is not a Cuda it is my 69 Charger R/T.
Here is my 70 Cuda
Then my baby and bad boy of the family, 1968 426 Road Runner. I got the Runner from Mon and Dad when I was 17, they bought it new. Will run 11.80 on street tires and closed exhaust. Yea the Blown 440 make more HP but till I add a 4 link rear end it will never hook up. 60 MPH in second it will lite the hides, looks cool but no traction no action. It is a older PIC but I really like this one.
Cuda Ken, sorry off topic
Ken,
Nice! I didn't think it looked like a Cuda it was hard to see on my screen but I took a guess based on your screen name. I'm a Chevy guy myself, I have a 69 Camaro (contrary to popular beleif not everyone has one LOL) RS/SS inmy garage that I did a cmplete restoration on but I have a soft spot for Mopars espcialy 69/70 Roadrunners.
Oh, and to keep it on topic your scenery is comming along nicely. Your trees look great. WHat scale and size is your benchwork?
J.P.
It is U shape, 19' X 8' X 13' and between 4' and 5' wide. As far as the trees some are hand made my me but most a store bought. Take a while to make them, but keeps me busy when thing are slow at work.
Cuda Ken, close to spring time to fire up the Runner again.
