Passenger Station

I'm interested in modeling a passenger station with butterfly canopies. Does anyone know if MR ran any articles on this subject? Can anyone suggest a model or scratchbuilding technique?

Hey empire valley
I am eastcoast. I deal mainly with all types of passenger trains and aspects ,on the E C R , I have two stations, one is the cornerstone 933-3038 Amtrak Station and the other is Atlas Station x 4. Both work well with many types of canopies. I would need to ask the time period you need and / or area you model.
I have only seen few articles about canopies in MRmag , mostly were in product review sections. The most recent I recall was the Cornerstone canopies that enhanced the large Union station, which I had the pleasure to build in full for the local model club.
What I have done on my shelf layout is to place the main station above all the canopies to save space and still see the full detail. The better of many products I have used is Cornerstone 933-3175 , they are fairly easy to build and link together as far as you need. And I feel they fit most time periods.

It has a pleasure to help. Hope I did.[:p]

Some time in the 1970s MR had prototype drawings of two CN platforms (I think it was CN). Anyway, one was the butterfly type, and the other was the regular kind. If I can find the issue at home, I'll let you know. You can always try the "Index of Magazines" at the very top of this page.
