6100 Remote Tortoise Mount and peco dbl crossover ?
Posted by spectratone on Sunday, April 30, 2006 8:14 AM
Has anybody posted pictures of how the 6100 remote mount and a peco double crossover should be hooked up? Do you need only one 6100 to make all four turnouts opperate at the same time? Or am I have to pull out the rube goldburg book for ideas? this is N scale, peco code 55, over 2 inch foam.
thanks

I can't see how a double crossover can be powered by a single motor,be it a Tortoise or else. You'd need a quite fancy linkage system to do so and yet I have serious doubt that the motor would be strong enough to work reliably.Peco's are designed to be operated by four PL-10's linked in parallel, which is in my mind the simplest and most reliable way to go.It may seem expensive, but not more than four individual turnouts, which the DCO replaces. Most certainly, you can substitute Tortoise's but you'll still need four unless you like engineering challenges.
