Need suggestions
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, March 3, 2006 9:27 PM
I have just installed a NCE D13SRJ in my NOS Blue Box Athearn SW-1500. Everything works great, and I am very pleased with this little switcher.

My question is this: What LED's has everyone used with success with this decoder?

I would like to have forward and reverse lighting, so I can run the rule 17 option.

I have some SMD led's left over from another project, but they are super-brights, and blue on top of that, so they are a no-go. I thought about grain-of-wheat lamps for a second, but I don't want to take a chance on melting the plastic shell.

Any and all advice/help is appreciated!!

I use golden-white LEDs, but my locos are all older first-generation diesels. Sunny White types are probably better for a newer model with modern headlights.
I get mine either from Tim at Empire Northern or I get the Miniatronics Yelo-Glo LEDs at my LHS. Tim includes 1K resistors. Miniatronics includes some lesser value resistors - 1K is the one you want for DCC.
