Track with concrete ties
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 6, 2006 5:27 PM
Are there any track manufacturers who make pre-made turnouts with concrete ties? I've been looking for them for some time now. Any help is appreciated.

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

While peco make flex track with concrete ties, they don't make turnouts. I don't know if anyone does.
We had a long discussion of this some time ago, and while we actually found examples of concrete ties in switches, most railroads go to wood in the middle of a stretch of concrete. The reasons given vary from having to cast a variety of ties to durability problems.

About the closes thing I can find would be this: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/433-21336
Its code 100 not 83 and it isn't real prototypical looking.
