Wood Bldg Paint Idea?

Has anybody tried, or would it work to mix IPA and Oil Artiest colors to a wash and use that on Campbell and other wood kits?
IPA wouls flash (dry) quick leaving the pigment behind for the color.
Any feedback would be nice, thank you.

I've used acrylic and water. Works just fine. Oils, at least to me, make things a lot more complicated.

Thanks Chip,
the story of warping got me so I am looking for an answer that gives the finish without the problems.
I got some kits on EBAY to build for a mining town, old, rustic and worn. Figured wood would be easier than plastic to do.

Hi There;
One way that works good for me is to stain the wood first & then paint it .After the paint is dry take some fine steel wool & go over the paint until the stain shows through. You can take a little of the paint off or a lot depending on how weatherbeaten you want the final result. This also gives the paint a faded look. If you want peeling paint brush on rubber cement & then paint. When paint is dry rub with your finger & the rubber cement & paint roll right off leaving the wood exposed. Hope this helps.

Warping? I've had problems with the cardboard buildings but not wood.

If the oil paint will dissolve and become a wash in the IPA, then this would work. This would be the same principal that has been used for ink and shoe poli***o make washes. I am not sure if the paint would dissolve, so give it a try and let us know!

There was a thread that stated that wood wpuld warp using Poly Scale so I am looking into other options.
Simon as far as the ability to blend that is in my real lab now with a phd playing with formulas. book keeping thinks it is a new product LOL. The lab is closed till 1/3/06 when they come back to work. I was wondering if someone had already done this. Would save me a bunch of money paying the lab salary to do this.
