Assortment of small nuts & bolts??
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, May 15, 2005 5:53 PM
Hi,

I'm trying to find an assortment of small nuts, bolts, washers and screws.
Screws ranging from maybe 1/4" to 3/4" in length. (I'm in N scale..)
Neither my LHS nor Homedepot carry something like that.

Does anyone here know an online retailer where I could order a nice assortment
with different sizes like that?

Thanks, I really appreciate your help.

Another option is to go by a local clock/watch repair shop. Mine had all kinds of screws and bolts that same from watches that were no good. And they let me have any of the ones that I needed for free. I needed to screws to keep a shell on the drive train of a loco.
Thanks, Kevin

That place sure has a large selection, but the assortments they offer
are running $100 or more. A liitle more then I wanted to spend..
But thanks for the tip.

I seem to remember that Radio Shack had a bag of 2-56 bolts available. I believe that they came in 1/4 to 3/4 lenghts. I would think that they had nuts and washers too. You can always check their website www.radiosnack.com

Try a local hardware store instead of a big-box. My local True Value will sell you a single nut or bolt if that's what you want.

I'm surprised your LHS doesn't offer these packages.

Look for a hobby shop that specializes in radio control cars and aircraft -- I have found lots of machine bolt, nut, and washer assortments at one of these establishments.

Try: http://www.microfasteners.com/catalog/products/AST.cfm

They have assortments down to 0-80 size. Price is reasonable too.
