As I have aquired all of the required track for my layout, I am starting to think of scenery. does anyone have experience of the great eatern trunk layout in an atlas book? I need pictures for inspiration and ideas. Thank you all for your help.

I used the GET plan and substituted Walthers turnouts. Had to cut up every one of them to fit (only the frog angle is the same). I also wish I'd used flex track instead of section track for the triple track part, too many rail joints visible. Last, I moved the yard and turntable to another part of my basement by adding a loop:

One problem: I need to add a turnout on the outer triple track to get trains on & off from the other direction.

I put a mountain at the other end:

I made the turnouts removable sections

I'm still not sure what to put on the inside of the triple track. A mine won't look right (no tracks to fill cars). Maybe urban; maybe an amusement park. Don't know.
