Almost ready to start... (I think)
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, March 7, 2005 10:57 AM
Okay, so I have the idea of what I want to do with my first layout, still need to purchase everything (But my wife has a new job so we have more money available for my hobby and hers :))

What I'm wondering about is, I want to get a book kind of like a How-to type of thing since I have no clue what I'm doing. I can line up track by eye but the scenery and the techniques need to be explained to me. So are there any suggestions on a good book or 2 that I can read and learn with?BLOCKED SCRIPTinsertsmilie('[8D]')

Kalmbach & Model Railroader have several books that can get you started in the right direction. ie: Model Railroad Planning, Model Trains Step by Step, which comes with a CD, How to build Realistic Scenery, etc. Check out thier web site for more info. Good Luck and take your time.
