Peco #6 crossover - any mods needed?
Posted by ChrisVA on Sunday, April 21, 2024 11:58 AM

I have some Peco #6 turnouts and I'm looking at bulding a crossover between them. At first glance it looks like they "just work" from for a crossover without any modifications. The straight track 2" centers seem to be maintained.  Has anyone bulit a crossover from Peco #6 turnouts and did you have to do anything special to get the turnouts to connect without any rail cutting, tie cutting, etc.?

Note  I"m focusing just on the mechanical track connection, not electrical aspects.

Thanks

PECO code 83 North American style? Pretty sure they make 2" center crossovers with no cutting or filling.

The Peco #6 turnouts, double slips and crossings are all compatible to form 2" O.C. track work. On my layout, I have a 4-track span consisting of four turnouts and four double slips, allowing trains to access all four tracks in either direction. All four tracks are each 2 inches apart from one another.
