Have you tried liquid nails in the tube? 3M makes a product called 5200-it comes in two forms, quick-set, about 4 hrs. and regular-72 hrs. It can be used for sealing, glue, bedding compound, and because it is a polythiosulfide, will make hinges if 1/4-3/8 gap is left between adjacent pieces. The compound will enter into any pore/opening of the material it is applied to and will not separate. It is cleaned with acetone, lacquer thinner, or acetone. It can be worked with liquid soap on your finger to move it around if need be.

Hope this helps

Rrebell,

It would help to know..what You are trying to glue the plastic stone to. That is I believe it is plastic...that is the only kind Campbell makes that I am aware off. If You used the Original...not water base contact cement...I find it hard to believe that it did not work...unless what You glued it to was extremely porous....even then a couple coats of the cement on it, should of had some type of bond. I have glued plastic, to Homasote and other materials, some needing more than one coat....The bond would rip off the material it was glued to, before it came off the plastic or vinyl.

They probably said not to use Goo, because it is thin plastic and too much will attack the plastic....but original contact cement should be put on with a brush, in a thin coat...let dry...then attach.

Take Care! Big Smile

Frank

BTW: Chooch makes vinyl/plastic thin cut stone and all variations of brick etc. and they recommend, contact cement, even though the back side of their product is self stick.

There is an old MR article by Frary and/or Hayden using this material on one of the C&DR buidings.... if I remember correctly they used epoxy to first to bond to the substrate and form a reverse impression of the inner surface of the stone sheet, then peeled it away when dry and re-cemented it with an ACC. Hope this might help Chris M
