Has anyone delt with a company called Custom Modelrailroads out of Baltimore Md ? They offer HO  scale turntable kits. They have thier own drive gear but offer a indexing system from New York Rialway Supply out of Westlake Texas. I would like to purchase one from them since Walthers can,t seem to get their turntable out to the pubilc. Thanks

I do not own the CMR turntable or, for that matter, any other of their products.  However, I have had recent conversations with them by phone about their HO scale lift bridge and they really come across as customer oriented.

Regarding the Walthers turntable, why do you feel that Walthers "can't seem to get their turntable out to the public"?  I own their HO scale 130' indexed turntable, and it is a simply wonderful, reliable product.

I have had a Walthers turntable on order for well over a year now. The last time Walthers indicated the turntable woud be available they said April 2011.

However, Walthers has posted a note indicating that the turntables are now complete but are held until Heljan finishes the code for the turntables.

I have also been looking around for a turntable that woud suit my needs and would likely buy it as I am quite frankly tired of waiting for Walthers to release their turntable.

Perhaps a Heljan turntable would be an alternate unit? Mmmm

How big of a turntable do you need?

These guys will be back in business this month.  They make a very good product.

The last I,ve seen is they moved the date to Oct26 2011 and were waiting for some company to rewrite the codes. Frankly I,m tired of the wait I talked to the people at CMR and they make these turntables to order. He told me that from start to finish it would take two weeks. I think that this is the way to go. My layout has been on hold almost a year. I don,t want to do any senery till I have all the mechanics working. Thanks for the input....L&N TIM

I've built a CMR turntable (105' version). I didn't use their motor or the indexing they mentioned but devised my own solution with a low-speed geared motor I had.

Went together well and quickly with a minimum of sanding/fitting and putty filling. The acrylic is easy to work with and makes a beautiful model when painted.

My current track plan calls for a second turntable (120') at one end of a large interchange yard. I won't hesitate to order another CMR. I've been very pleased with the first one.
