Was in a store today and saw a package of "cinnamon brooms" that looked like it would make a whole lot of tree armatures, dead fall and any other similar scenic features. I happened to read the WARNING before I had it home and half used up. It said do not place on unprotected wood or painted surfaces.
I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem was? My thoughts have been leaning toward the possibility that the color bleeds badly, if it gets wet. If that is the case, is there a way to seal the stuff to make it useable? I'd hate to have the color bleed all over my layout, but if it is useable, at that price, it would be a shame not to use it.

I believe the main problem is the cinnamon oils they spray and soak the brooms in that can damage wood furniture and trims, doors and walls, etc. Colorants may be a secondary issue, also.
{like what are you supposed to do with it? hang it from the ceiling with fish line so it doesn't touch anything? LOL}
{oh and don't let your children or pets EAT them either!}
EDIT: they do make "blonde brooms" that are natural in color, and have no scent or dyes so look for them...probably around NEXT Halloween! {for witches brooms!} Hunt and poke around and you may find them!

OTOH, it might be pleasant to have the entire layout smelling like cinnamon!
I have figured out what is wrong with my brain! On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!
if they have one unwrapped, snag a twig off of it and take it home and put half of it on a test piece of wood and see what happens and seal the other half and see if it works.

Think I'll opt for the blonde witch, even though I will have to wait until next Halloween. Sounds like a better option than a nice smelling, all redish layout.
