Can I use Atlas code 55 track with a Fleishmann turntable? Do I need any special joiners? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The Fleischmann N scale (and HO) turntable design is unusual in that you swap in special track extensions to the external ring where you want a track. (It would be easier to mate Code 55 with a more typical turntable since you could just shim the track to the proper height.)
Those Fleischmann track extensions are most likely Code 80, so you'll probably need to shim up the Atlas Code 55. For the joiners themselves, you can probably just use a Code 80 Joiner on the Fleischman side with the opposite end crimped down as a "shelf" on which to rest the Code 55 rail. Then solder the whole assembly together and dress the rail tops with a file to smooth out.
Tinker with the parts a bit and it should become clearer how it all goes together.
Some folks are able to just solder rail to rail in a butt joint with no joiner, I've personally not found that to work very well in N scale.
There is a Code 70 to Code 55 plastic transition joiner offered by MicroEngineering, but it probably won't be of any use here.
I don't know of any pre-fab N scale Code 80 to Code 55 metal transition joiners, perhaps others do.
