Rolling stock lift for my depot workshop
Posted by Edmunds on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 5:06 AM

Hi all,

Wanted to share a project I finished a while ago, but only now found time to write a "How to" story on it.

The train depot building in Castlerocks is somehow becoming a central piece of my layout. At least for now. I have probably spent a year in and out trying different things to improve it, but now I feel about finished. The building already has fully detailed interior, some 20 LEDs for interior lighting, welding simulation, automatically opening doors, train detection to operate occupied/free signal and as one of the last projects - a lift to take up a locomotive or any other piece of rolling stock. This last piece of attraction has been posted on YouTube as a video here. A "How to" page is available here on the website of my hobbies and MR among them in a prominent spot :).

All in all, I was very happy to read recently in MRR about other modelers who are not afraid of taking the old creations down to replace them with new and better as your skills improve. I believe one can never be done with anything in our hobby, as you can always do better than before. And I love it that way!

Regards,

/Edmunds

Do you have a photo of the depot on your layout?
